Every body has unique needs and every individual has their own sleeping preferences. Some people prefer firmer sleeping surfaces while others can only rest on softer ones.

Shorter people will naturally need different support systems than exceptionally tall individuals. Likewise, heavier people deserve bedding that caters to their bodies’ unique needs, which will be different than that of lighter individuals.

Titan mattress by Brooklyn Bedding may be the solution for taller and/or heavier people.

This 11” hybrid contains layers of specially designed foam and premium coils to sufficiently support the weight of these individuals and provide them personalized pressure relief.

Because this bed is on the firmer side, it might be particularly preferable to back and stomach sleepers. In fact, Brooklyn Bedding claims their Titan mattresses are uniquely optimized for larger individuals who like to sleep on their backs or stomachs.

Does Brooklyn Bedding really deliver a product that can support these people as well as they say? You’ve come to the right place to find out. We’ll break down what makes this mattress unique, what the terms are for ordering this bed online, and more. This way, you’ll know if a Titan mattress is the right choice for your household.

What’s Inside the Titan Mattress?

Titan Mattress 1

What makes the Titan so uniquely capable of handling the needs of taller/heavier people or those who prefer to sleep on their backs and stomachs? It all boils down the materials and construction of the bedding itself.

Layer 1: 1” Quilted Memory Foam Top

Love the feel of memory foam, minus all the heat that comes with it? Yes? Then you might appreciate this top layer; it’s made of gel-infused foam, which is noticeably cooler than traditional memory foam. The quilted design is also quite airy, making the top of this mattress incredibly breathable and comfortable.

Layer 2: 2” TitanFlex™ Foam

This foam is made to be longer-lasting, cooler, and safer than traditional viscoelastic bedding materials like memory foam or even latex. This durable open-cell foam allows for plenty of airflow, meaning you stay cooler and drier as you slumber. Best of all, it’s CertiPUR-US certified, so you know it’s been tested for harmful substances like formaldehyde and lead.

This layer is optimized to contour to you. By hugging your body’s unique shape, it can provide customized pressure-point relief. The result? More support where your body needs it most.

Layer 3: 6” TitanCaliber™ Springs

Want extra support? You’ll need high-quality materials. TitanCaliber™ coils fit the bill. By placing up to nearly a thousand of these coils in your Titan, Brooklyn Bedding ensures that you have enhanced levels of support and stability. Their strategic placement also effectively reduces motion transfer, making this layer a fantastic addition for those who share the bed with a light sleeper.

Layer 4: 2” Dense Foam Base

A foundational layer has to be tough. That’s why Brooklyn Bedding has made the Titan’s base of high-density foam. Besides providing a final layer of stability for you, this base also acts as a cushioning layer for the TitanCaliber™ springs. Overall, this base enhances durability.

Optional Cooling Top

The temperature-regulating tech already built into this mattress should be more than enough for most people. However, if you oftentimes find yourself tossing and turning because you can’t stay cool, you might find it beneficial to invest in the optional Titan cooling top. Made of phase-changing material (PCM) fabric, this top is hexagon-stitched. Why? To make the top part of your bed airier and you drier and cooler.

Materials & Safety

Materials

If you crack open the Titan, what could you expect to find? This hybrid incorporates several layers of various types of foam as well as an innerspring layer. The two most notable materials in this bedding are TitanFlex™ foam and TitanCaliber™ springs.

TitanFlex™ foam is the brand’s proprietary contouring foam. Encased TitanCaliber™ coiled springs are specially designed to withstand extra weight as well as significantly reduce motion transfer. Taken together, these materials enhance durability, support levels, and breathability.

Safety

Worried about low-quality, toxic bedding? Don’t—at least not when you order a Titan mattress. These beds use CertiPUR-US certified foamCertiPUR-US is basically the gold standard of foam safety in the sleep industry.

When you see this seal, you know that the foam has undergone testing for harmful materials like ozone depleters, formaldehyde, mercury, and lead.

How did Titan receive these scores? You can check out our grading process below.

Noise

Innerspring and hybrid options are known for being the noisiest types of mattress. So, just how much noise can you expect a Titan to generate? Surprisingly, not much for a hybrid.

Part of this quietness is due to the placement of the internal coils and the fact that they’re encased. The additional layers of foam also help dampen the overall noise levels. So, while a Titan won’t be totally silent, it won’t be unreasonably noisy, either.

Temperature Regulation

When you’re hot and sweaty, it’s much harder to sleep. Fortunately, Titans don’t easily overheat if you add a top cooling panel. The panel’s hexagon-stitched fabric is a PCM, or phase-changing material. In other words, this material can readily absorb and then release heat, transferring it away from you as you rest.

Even if you don’t add this cooling top, you’ll still be cooler in a Titan than an all-foam or all-latex bed. Hybrid and innerspring options allow better airflow in their cores, and Titan’s trademarked TitanFlex™ foam is airier than traditional memory foam or even latex. The result is a hybrid mattress that breathes easily.

Sinkage

Sinkage refers to how much your body sinks into a mattress or how much “give” it has when you press down on it. Now, Titans are engineered to be firmer beds.

So, don’t expect too much sink when you rest on one. There will, however, be some give to the mattress thanks to its included foam layers, which can help provide the cushioning that your body needs.

Motion Isolation

When you’re sleeping with a partner, motion isolation is an important factor to consider. After all, motion-isolating beds will reduce the chances of you accidentally jostling a companion.

Titans—thanks to their TitanFlex™ foams and TitanCalbier™ coils—excel at motion isolation. That makes them great options for those who expect to share their beds with someone else.

Edge Support

Edge support may not be the first factor to come in mind when you’re thinking of all the qualities you’d like your bed to have, but it should be. Supported perimeters can be a great indicator of the overall quality of the bed.

After all, a bed with no reinforced perimeters means you might slide off your bed if you sit along the edges. In fact, you may accidentally fall off the bed more often if it doesn’t have stronger edges!

Fortunately, the Titan, like other hybrid beds, has great edge support. This reinforced perimeter means you can comfortably sit along the edges of your bed.

Best Sleeping Positions

When it comes to waking up with less aches and pains, there may be nothing more important than making sure you achieve proper spinal alignment as you rest.

When your back, shoulders, and neck are in place, you can reduce the amount of pressure you place on the body’s most sensitive areas. Your sleeping position will play a large part in how you align your spine, and different types of bedding can better support different types of sleepers.

So, how does Titan suit each of the three main sleeping positions (on the side, back, and stomach)?

Side Sleepers

Side sleepers often prefer softer sleeping surfaces. Why? Because the parts of their body that lay on the bed need to really sink so proper spinal alignment can occur. Now, the Titan is designed to be a firmer bed. This construction means it might not be the best choice for side sleepers.

However, if you’d still like to try a Titan out, you can contact customer support. Then, inquire about their offer of a free mattress topper to soften your sleeping surface. This way, you can still get the stability of a Titan mattress but with better cushioning for your pressure points.

Back Sleepers

Back sleepers need firmer sleeping surfaces than side sleepers. The reason? If there’s too much “give” to their beds, their spines will curve in uncomfortable, tension-creating ways. Now, Titan mattresses are incredibly sturdy and firm. So, they tend to work well for those who fall asleep on their backs.

Stomach Sleepers

Like back sleepers, stomach sleepers often prefer firmer sleeping surfaces. A Titan is specifically designed to meet the needs of larger people who like to sleep on both their stomachs and backs, meaning this mattress could be a great option to explore if you rest on your front side; that’s why Titan is one of our favorite brands for stomach sleeping.

Warranty, Trial Length & Return Process

Can you really trust the Titan mattress by Brooklyn Bedding? Wary potential customers should know that Titan’s official website hosts 240 reviews from customers. Together, they average out to a rating of 4.7/5.

This rating is backed up by other sites, like Amazon, which shows the aggregate of six customer reviews as 5/5. These ratings are largely regarding the product itself, though.

What about the company? As it turns out, Brooklyn Bedding is as trustworthy as they come in the industry. This company holds an impressive A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau (BBB).

Transparency and genuine efforts to resolve customer complaints? Brooklyn Bedding has you covered.

So, just what exactly should you expect when you order a Titan? You can check out some of the details here. This way, you can make the call if this bedding is the right choice for you.

Warranty

A warranty is a good indicator of the quality of a product. The better the warranty, typically the more confident the company is that their product or service will stand the test of time. So, just how confident is Brooklyn Bedding in the Titan? Pretty confident. Each Titan comes with a 10-year limited warranty.

Sleep Trial

Ordering a mattress online can be a stressful experience. It doesn’t have to be, though, especially if you know what to look for. One feature to look for no matter the mattress brand is the mattress trial. Since you can’t physically test out a mattress before you buy one, a sleep trial is a good way to test out a bed you order online.

A Titan comes with a 120-night sleep trial. So, you’ll get four months to break the bed in and decide if it will work for you.

Returns

If after 30 days you already know a Titan isn’t for you, you can contact customer support to arrange returning the bed and getting a refund. If you live within the lower 48 states, you won’t have to pay for return shipping. Unfortunately, those who live outside this area will. If you live outside the lower 48 states, you should know that shipping costs are non-refundable.

Shipping & Delivery

What can you expect as far as shipping and delivery goes when you order from Brooklyn Bedding? First, it will take anywhere from 1-3 business days for them to process your order. Then, you can expect your product to arrive 3-5 business days after everything is shipped.

Note that you can’t change your orders once they’ve shipped, and canceling shipping will cost $60. So, make sure you really do want to try out a Titan mattress before placing an order.

If you live inside the contiguous United States, shipping is free. Those who live in Hawai’i or Alaska should expect fees of at least $125, and those in Canada should expect fees to start at $250.

Review Summary & Ideal Customer Breakdown

Plus-size sleepers shouldn’t have to settle for bedding that doesn’t meet the unique needs of their bodies; that’s why Brooklyn Bedding offers the Titan. This heavy-duty bed is firm enough to sufficiently support larger individuals while they rest, particularly those who slumber on their backs or stomachs.

The reinforced coil system also offers great motion isolation, making the Titan a great option for couples, too. With higher-quality materials, this bed truly is optimized to meet the needs of this demographic better than most bedding options on the market.

The Titan isn’t for everyone, though. Side sleepers might find this bed too firm for their liking. Furthermore, those who live outside the contiguous United States will have to pay non-refundable shipping fees to try this bed out.

Compared to other plus-size bedding, though, the Titan is still fairly affordable. So, for those who are willing to try out a bed specially designed for larger folk, a Titan mattress can be a worthwhile investment.

We think you’d enjoy a Titan mattress if you:

  • Share a bed with a partner, as these beds are great at isolating motion.
  • Sleep on your back or stomach.
  • Are taller and/or heavier.
  • Simply enjoy firmer mattresses.

A Titan mattress may not be the best for you if you:

  • Are a shorter or lighter individual.
  • Enjoy softer mattresses.
  • Live outside the continental United States.
  • Sleep on your side.

Points to Consider Before You Buy

Can You Wait A Month If You Don’t Like Your New Bed?

If you don’t immediately like your new bed, you will have to wait for a little bit before you can initiate the return process. Brooklyn Bedding’s return policy states that you must wait 30 days before trying to return the Titan.

Why 30 days? Two reasons. Firstly, it takes time for a new mattress to break-in. Secondly, it takes about 2-4 weeks for your body to really adjust to a new sleeping surface. Essentially, Brooklyn Bedding wants to make sure you give their Titan mattress a fair shot.

Do You Have A Proper Bed Frame?

You can’t just lay your Titan on the floor. Foundations that can work with this bed include slat frames, platform frames, or box springs. If you have a platform bed, make sure that the spacing between the support slats is roughly 3-5” apart.

You should supplement any further spacing with something like a bunkie board. Otherwise, you run the risk of your mattress (and you) not being fully supported.

Do You Live Outside The Lower 48 States?

Brooklyn Bedding claims you can get the Titan at reduced risk, in large part due to free shipping and returns. To be fair, you do get free shipping and returns on a Titan… if you order a standard size and live within the contiguous United States.

If you live outside the lower 48 states, you will have some shipping fees attached to your order. Note that these fees are not refundable. Furthermore, if you order a custom-sized bed—even if you live within the contiguous United States—you may still have to pay some shipping fees.

Potential Cancellation Fees

Make sure you really want to test out a Titan before you finalize your order. Why? Because once everything ships, you can’t change your order. Try to cancel everything once it’s shipped, and you’ll receive a $60 cancellation fee.

FAQ

Most frequent Titan mattress questions

What is TitanFlex™ foam?

It’s the material that Brooklyn Bedding says helps distinguish this mattress from its competitors. But what exactly is it?

Essentially, this trademarked material is a specialty foam blend that’s optimized to hug the body well and respond to unique pressure points. But it does more than mimic the elasticity of memory foam and latex.

TitanFlex™ is safer, more durable, and cooler than traditional foam. That’s because this CertiPUR-US certified foam features an open-cell design to wick away moisture efficiently. This composition means you can stay cooler and drier as you rest on it.

Do I need a box spring with my Titan?

Not necessarily. You can use a box spring with your new bed. However, slats and platform bed frames are also suitable foundations for Titan bedding.

Are custom-sized Titans available?

Yes. You can talk directly with the company to discuss placing a custom order.

Can I flip my Titan?

This bed has specialized tiers, so you shouldn’t flip it. You can, however, rotate it; in fact, this latter practice may help extend the lifespan of the bed itself.

What happens to a returned mattress?

If you don’t love your Titan? Customer service will work with you to come up with a solution. Typically, returned mattresses are donated to non-profits or charities.

So, even if the bed didn’t work out for you, you can rest easy knowing that it can still serve a good purpose once you send it off.

Where are Titan mattresses made?

Brooklyn Bedding’s Titans are custom-made right here in the United States.
